Daily Grace

Anything good in me is because of who He is and who He is making me to be. I'm Ashley. I'm learning that there are seasons in life, and that sometimes you have to put on your raincoat instead of ignoring the rain.

Are we wrong in our discouragement?

The job hunt is a draining thing. I almost feels like applying for college. I feel like it should be easier than that. But it’s been disheartening. All my colleges wanted me. But why don’t these employers? I have been considering what it means to be discouraged these past couple of days. In Philippians 4:8 it says, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” When we exist in a state of discouragement we choose to think about things that are not lovely and not good and not admirable. Do we not have something to be constantly rejoicing in? Do we not have a constant hope, a constant reason to be encouraged in Jesus? When we allow ourselves to be discouraged are we saying that are reason for discouragement is more powerful than The Lord Jesus Christ as our reason for encouragement? Perhaps I’m getting ahead of myself. It is easy for me to get discouraged because I’m often my own worst critic. But God is my biggest cheerleader. And when I choose to focus on that and Him instead of myself and my faults, I smile a lot more often. This is know to be true.
